Journey Groups help us do life together, no matter where we are on our spiritual journey.
We are always looking to start new groups to go along with our ongoing groups. We ask everyone to consider joining a Journey Group because no one should do life alone.
Gap Community Church uses RIGHTNOW Media as a resource to all partners to give them curriculum and topic options. Facilitating a Life Group is simple using this vast digital library.
Journey Group FAQ
What is a Journey Group?
Journey Groups are smaller clusters of people who are pursuing spiritual growth together in 3 major areas:
Knowing God – Growing in their personal relationship with God
Knowing Each Other – Developing and deepening friendships with each other
Serving the World – Reaching out to others beyond the group
Who are Journey Groups for?
Whether you’re brand-new to GCC or you’ve been coming for years, a Journey Group is a great next step for anyone who wants to grow in their relationship with God and others through relationships.
What is a typical Journey Group meeting like?
Each Journey Group is unique, but generally all groups have some social time with snacks and conversation up front, followed by a time of study and prayer. The meeting will last somewhere around 1 &1/2 to 2 hours.
How long will my group last?
All groups complete one full study together (anywhere from 4-10 weeks). After that, you’ll meet socially with your group members and decide together whether you’d like to continue on as a group. If your group does decide to go on, there are natural on and off ramps built into the life cycle of every group (breaks between studies, Christmas and Summer break, etc.) so you’ll be able to transition out of the group if it’s not the best fit for you, or if your circumstances change.
Can I be in more than one Journey Group?
While you are certainly not locked into a group forever, it’s important that you commit to attending only one Journey Group. If you would like to check out a different group, we have designated on and off ramps every few months for you to make those transitions.
Where will the group meet?
Groups meet in people’s homes or in public places like Starbucks, Panera, Barnes & Noble, etc
What about childcare?
Each individual group is responsible for deciding how to handle childcare needs.
Some options are:
- Have parents arrange for sitters on their own and attend the group without children
- Chip in together for a sitter who watches the kids in a different room while your group meets
- Group members take turns watching the kids each week
